June 4 Update - Responding to your feedback, Re-opening update and Father's Day packages are available

Hello friends,

We hope this email finds you safe, staying healthy and keeping as positive of an outlook as possible.  As if a pandemic wasn’t enough, we find ourselves in an even more difficult, divisive time in our society.  We hope you will join our community in offering support, providing peace of mind, all while continuing to live out our values of accountability, compassion, positivity, respectfulness and teamwork.

In terms of COVID-19, we are still holding steady with only the one case that was previously announced.  As you can imagine, we are so proud of our team for continuing to exercise sound judgment and for keeping our residents’ health and well-being in consideration in all they do, even more so than usual.

Again, many thanks to those of you who participated in our recent Family & Friends Check-In Survey!  From the feedback received, four questions in particular were asked by multiple people. In response, Ben Higgins, our VP of Healthcare Operations, helped create a 5-minute Q&A video, addressing these top concerns. The video is posted on our Youtube channel; the direct link is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Dsv_Vzui7c&t=7s.  We are also in the process of sharing the video on our social media outlets.

In addition to our Q&A video, we also have some potential re-opening dates for some of our ancillary services.  Please keep in mind, these dates are subject to change depending on recommendations from local and national authorities:

-Friendship Outpatient and Wellness Services (FOWS) is re-opening on Monday, June 8th.

-Salon services in Friendship’s Assisted Living will resume Wednesday, June 10th.

-Friendship’s Independent Living’s Salon will reopen Thursday, June 11th.

-Club Friendship, our on-site restaurant and bar within the Residents’ Center, is planning to re-open for residents on Monday, June 15th.

-The pool and gym in the Residents’ Center will be open by appointment only to ensure we have an appropriate number of individuals using the space during its hours of operation.

At this time our Adult Day Care at the Feinour Center will remain closed.  As soon as we feel it is safe to do so, we will re-open this service.

While we are working towards these dates, our campuses will remain closed visitation-wise.  We know this may not be what you want to hear, however we ask for your continued understanding and support.

The reason we are able to restart the services above is because they are located in buildings or rooms that are separated from resident living areas and allow us to maintain appropriate social distance.  Please note our “standard operating procedures” have changed to be mindful of appropriate personal space and to keep everyone as safe as possible.

We know you miss your loved ones and want to be together,  Quite frankly, our team misses you too, as we long to see and experience the joy and love that you bring to the residents.  Know that as soon as it is safe to do so, we will resume in-person visits.  In the meanwhile, we hope you will continue to take advantage of our GoTo Meeting capabilities and also participate in events where you can drive by and visit.  Great upcoming opportunities include the Father’s Day  Family Car & Hot Rod Parade that will be taking place at our Health and Rehab Center North, with a similar event to follow at Assisted Living on Friday, June 19th, at 11 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. respectively.

Lastly, Club Friendship is offering Father's Day Care Packages for the upcoming holiday.  The packages are $12 each (still being offered at cost) and include cheese puffs, brownies, muffins, a cookie, honey bun and cheese crackers.  Orders must be placed by Wednesday, June 17th as the packages will be delivered on Friday, June 19th.  Please order online at friendship.us, or call Club Friendship at 540.265.2056 to place your order.

Thank you for your patience and understanding over these last few months.  We still have many unknowns ahead through which to navigate, however what is, and will remain constant, is our gratefulness in allowing us to care for you and your loved one.

Take care and stay well,

Joe Hoff
