A Celebration of Life & Lights raises money for seniors in need

November 10, 2025

The glow of more than 500 luminaries illuminated the Friendship Richfield Living campus during our recent Celebration of Life & Lights, creating a breathtaking tribute to loved ones remembered and honored throughout the evening. Each glowing light represented a cherished life or memory—together, they told a story of love, community, and compassion.

The night was filled with warmth in every sense—from crackling fire pits and s’mores to the laughter of families enjoying Kids’ Square’s interactive play area. Students from Roanoke College and Hollins University added extra joy, hosting creative activities that helped connect generations in meaningful ways. Members of Roanoke County TRIAD joined in the celebration, showing their continued commitment to serving seniors in our region.

More than just a beautiful event, Life & Lights had a lasting impact. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised $22,000 to support Friendship residents who have outlived their financial means—helping ensure that every resident continues to receive the compassionate care and dignity they deserve.

As the final luminaries faded into the night, what remained was a shared sense of gratitude and togetherness. Life & Lights was more than an event—it was a reminder of the light we bring to one another’s lives when we come together as a community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to every resident, family member, volunteer, and partner who helped make this year’s celebration so memorable. Together, we keep the light of friendship shining bright.
