That's right; there are also not-for-profit senior living communities like ours. Here are some of the additional benefits they offer residents.
Most senior living communities are for-profit, meaning that they provide services to generate a return on investment, and as such, they answer to their shareholders or investors first. On the other hand, not-for-profit communities such as Friendship are mission-based. For example, we're governed by a board of directors that guides our mission and provides fiduciary oversight. Although Friendship began nearly 60 years ago when the Church of the Brethren recognized the need for senior living in Roanoke Valley, today, we are not owned or affiliated with any entity.
