Friendship Hosts Open House For New Adult Medical Day Care Facility
Health care and senior living icon adds to continuum of services, host public open house showcase new facility, services.
ROANOKE, Va. (April 27, 2017) – In keeping with its commitment to high quality care and services for seniors in the community, Friendship Living is pleased to announce the addition of The Feinour Center – Adult Medical Day Care. To celebrate, members of the community are welcome to attend an open house event that will be held on Friday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 324 Hershberger Road in Roanoke. During the open house, attendees will be able to see the activity room where the programs will be held, complete an application, meet the staff and learn more about the benefits of this new program. Light refreshments will be served.
Opening June 1, The Feinour Center – Adult Medical Day Care will offer a more affordable opportunity for daytime care for family members who can no longer stay home alone safely while adding to Friendship’s continuum of care. Named after Friendship Foundation’s board chair, Edwin “Ted” Feinour, the center is licensed to host 60 adults and will be open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Programing and activities will be tailored to the interests of each individual to meet social, physical and cognitive needs. Group trips, Tai chi, full body exercises, games to stimulate memory, cooking, arts and music, and other activities will all promote overall wellness.
Staffing at The Feinour Center includes a recreation therapist, registered nurses, LPNs, and nursing assistants. This team will work with individuals to continuously monitor and assess their health to ensure their comprehensive plan of care is achieving the best outcome.
The need for adult medical day care was identified from within the community as an option when home care or long-term care are not the best solution. “We understand the challenges that coming with being a caregiver and want to provide services and benefits for them as well – whether it be hosting caregiver support groups or just some time for themselves,” said Allison Szuba, Director of The Feinour Center. “For those looking after a loved one and still work, or just need to run errands during the day, we want to give them a little relief in their lives.”
