June 23 Community Update - Test results and PPS schedule change

Dear friends,

Last week we shared with you about having the dietary department tested for COVID-19, due to having two team members test positive at Friendship Health and Rehab Center North, located on Hershberger Road.

The results from these tests were received and two more additional positive coronavirus cases were identified.  A third positive was learned of from another testing source.  This brings our current total of positive cases in the dietary department to five.

Our team worked hand-in-hand with the Virginia Department of Health over the weekend to complete contact tracing, identify individuals who would need to be placed on 14-day quarantine, and move up the Point Prevalence Study (PPS) testing, which was originally scheduled for July 7, 2020.  The PPS testing will now be completed this Friday, June 26, 2020.  This testing strategy will provide an idea of the prevalence of Coronavirus within the facility at a snapshot in time.

We share these details, not to instill fear, but to be as transparent as possible.  It’s important that we all continue to exercise best personal judgment in protecting everyone’s health and well-being.  Know that we are doing everything possible to contain the potential spread and to keep residents and staff safe, by continuing to partner with local, regional and national authorities.

We promise to continue to keep you updated, as we know you care deeply for your loved ones and our team.  Thank you for your continued understanding and support.

Gratefully,

Joe Hoff

President & CEO
