February 23, 2021 - Vaccine Clinic Update and Visitation Policy

Hello friends,

We are very pleased to share with you that are we're nearing completion of our COVID-19 vaccination clinics at both campuses, as well as Salem Terrace at Harrogate.  These are important and vital steps in getting this pandemic behind us!

All of us at Friendship and Salem Terrace will continue to take all necessary precautions well after the vaccination clinics are completed.  Personal protective equipment will be worn, and additionally, all facilities will continue guidance for testing strategies for employees and residents.

We want to take an opportunity to share with you Friendship’s current plan for allowing visitation. Please understand this is subject to change when updated guidance is issued.  With the exception of compassionate care situations, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services restricts visitation when a facility is in an Outbreak status, or if the County positivity rate rises above 10%.  We’ve developed a program to allow visitation, largely dependent on the vaccination status of both the resident and the visitor.

For purposes of this plan, “vaccination” means 14 days have passed since the individual received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Resident Visits are defined in three categories:

  1. Both Visitor and Resident have been vaccinated
  • The visit should be scheduled by the visitor with the Activities/Social Work department, much in the same manner the window visits or GoToMeeting visits have been scheduled during the pandemic.
  • The visitor will provide a copy of his/her vaccination card to provide proof of vaccination.  The visitor will then be given a Vaccination Pass that they will need to bring with them to each in-person visit.
  • Visits will take place in a centralized location, not in the resident’s room.
  • Both the visitor and resident will be required to appropriately wear face coverings.
  • Social distancing reminders will be placed inside the meeting space.
  • There are to be no more than two visitors at a time in the meeting space.

    2.  Only one party (Visitor OR Resident) has been vaccinated

  • The visit should be scheduled by the visitor with the Activities/Social Work department, much in the same manner that the window visits or GoToMeeting visits have been scheduled during the pandemic.
  • Visits will take place in a communal area (such as the lobby), not in the resident’s room, allowing for monitoring of adherence to requirements.
  • Both the visitor and resident will be required to appropriately wear face coverings.
  • Social distancing is a requisite for this meeting, given that both parties have NOT been vaccinated.
  • Visits will occur using a Visitation Booth.
  • For indoor visits, the plexiglass booth will be utilized.
  • For outside visits, the outdoor visitation station will be used.
  • There are to be no more than two visitors at a time in the visitation booth.

     3.  Neither party (Visitor AND Resident) have been vaccinated

  • The visit should be scheduled by the visitor with Activities/Social Work department, much in the same manner that the window visits or GoToMeeting visits have been scheduled during the pandemic.
  • Visits are limited to the following options: a window visit or GoToMeeting virtual visit.

We hope you find this information helpful!  If you have questions or to determine if a visit is feasible, please call the reception desk of the particular residence you are interested in visiting.  We look forward to seeing you in-person again soon.
