Friendship Retirement Community and its employees were recognized as leading contributors to the 2011 United Way of Roanoke Valley campaign.
Friendship received the Keystone Award, presented to organizations that raise between $100,000 and $249,000, and the Leadership Giving Award, recognizing individual leadership giving at $500 or more in the workplace. The awards were presented at United Way of Roanoke Valley's annual awards luncheon, where the year's total fund-raising -- $6.14 million -- was announced.
"Once again, Friendship's caring team has stepped up in a difficult economy to help our neighbors throughout the Roanoke Valley,"said CEO Russ Barksdale. "I am very proud of everyone at Friendship and look forward to making a significant impact for years to come."
